Overview: Welcome to San Diego and San Diego International Airport, historically known as Lindberg Field. Located on the northern shore of San Diego bay, the airport offers convenient and easy access to the downtown and beach areas, the San Diego Convention Center and the soon to be built downtown ballpark. The airport plays host to many domestic and international airlines and is an easy launching pad to the rest of the North America, Asia and the pacific region and Europe.

San Diego International offers a host of transportation options for your convenience, from rental car companies that are located in all three of the terminals, to complimentary shuttle service to and from most of the major hotels in the area, to the long term parking areas, and to the rental companies themselves. In addition, a host of taxi and limousine services operate out of the area.

With its international flair and year round weather, San Diego has become an international destination with an international airport, so come and enjoy all that we offer.

Facilities: San Diego International Airport offers a wide range of food services and shopping opportunities. There are numerous food courts, restaurants and snack bars throughout the three terminals. You can find it all here, from Starbucks Coffee to Cinnabon, CPK, Karl Strauss Breweries and other nationally known chains. Terminal 2 offers the largest of the food courts, with a host of dining and beverage options along with some last minute shopping options and bookstores to keep you in touch with what’s going on in the world.

Transportation: Transportation options at San Diego International are about as easy as you will find at a major airport. Airport shuttles, taxis and car rentals are found at all of the airport terminals. And if you are staying in one of the local hotels, most provide complimentary shuttle service to and from the airport. Auto rentals are also available within the airport terminals with shuttles providing transportation to and from the rental facilities, which are located nearby.

Parking: San Diego International Airport offers both off site and on site parking options. The on site facilities are fully automated, if you so choose, and are located at all three terminals. Please be aware that the on site lots are always at a premium and can be extremely congested, especially during times of heavy travel. Plan to arrive far enough ahead of your departure time to find appropriate parking. If you are going to be gone over two days and you are going to need the use of the parking facilities, please cut down on the congestion and use the long term parking facilities. These facilities are convenient to the terminals, offer shuttle service to and from the lots and ease the burden on the short-term areas.
